HELPING PEOPLE, TO HELP THEMSELVES

Be a Volunteer

We appreciate volunteers who wish to make a difference in Nepal. We have had many volunteers who have stayed 1 month to 4 months. Volunteers pay $500 USD per month. This includes room, board, and transportation to project sites all over Nepal. Volunteers have helped with project reports, project proposals, and donations.

Professionals may donate their skills. Previous professionals have done the following work with CDRA:

  • Australian engineering team provided elctrification work and a telecommunication system for the new eye hospital
  • For the annual eye camp, opthamologists (from Australia) volunteered their time and skills to provide free eye care for 2 weeks
  • Health professionals gave trainings on obstetric emergency management for rural health practitioners

Individual volunteers may donate to a specific cause or help with various projects:

  • New Zealand volunteers donated to build a new school
  • American volunteer taught English fluency lessons, edited and wrote reports, edited the website, and visited project sites
  • Australian volunteer helped with a medical training program and helped the screening process in the annual eye camp
  • Visiting opthamologists see problems in the villages and donate money to sponsor a water pump and a new school

Please see the following blogs for a better understanding of the volunteers' experiences:
