After returning from a visit to the USA, Director Ashok Shrestha was inspired to build makeshift greenhouses. He saw that by growing plants in greenhouses, there was a higher yield of produce. In Nepal, it is very expensive to build greenhouses such as the ones in the USA. Instead, Plastic sheets were mounted on posts over tomato plants. This makes the environment humid, ideal for tomato growth. Farmers found they produced more tomatoes and were able to sell them in the market for more income.
